Below is a detailed run-down of all our wedding events. You can also download a printable map & itinerary in PDF format (494KB).
Friday, August 7th
All ages welcome at all the Friday events (except maybe the drinks on the town!).
10:00am — Bike Ride with the Bride & Groom
Meet at Local Motion, where bike rentals are available. We’ll be taking a leisurely ride north along the scenic bike path that hugs the shore of Lake Champlain. Everyone is welcome, regardless of ability (we’re not out to race here), and if you tire before others you can always turn around at any point.
12:00pm — BYO Picnic Lunch at the Waterfront
Grab a sandwich from Burlington Bay Market & Cafe or a crepe from Skinny Pancake and step out onto the lawn at Waterfront Park. NOTE: This event is totally open, unstructured, weather-dependant, and not organized. Timing is very approximate intending to (hopefully) coincide with the completion of the bike ride. If you don’t see anyone you know when you get there, just wander around the park for a bit and relax. With any luck we’ll all meet up and get to enjoy a bite of lunch together on the lawn, perhaps followed by a treat from the creemee stand (that’s Vermont speak for soft-serve ice cream).
3:30pm — Beach, Lawn Games, and Barbeque
Oakledge Park is a pleasant 2-mile walk or bikeride from Waterfront Park along the bike path (see printable map). It’s also a very short car or taxi ride from town if you prefer (small day fee for cars). This is a very casual event. Wear your swimsuit if you want to take a dip in the lake or kick back on the beach. We’ll have lawn games starting around 3:30 (perhaps even volleyball or kickball too if we can get something organized) and food being served starting around 5:15. Food will be quality BBQ fare, featuring local grass-fed beef burgers as well as vegetarian and gluten-free options. Note we’ll be setting up the food and beverages at the large pavilion at the south end of the park. Bring the kids and bring the sunscreen!
10:00pm — Drinks on the Town
Meet at Drink to join us for a small sampling of the Burlington night life, all centered around Church Street. If you don’t find us immediately, call our cellphones to find out where the group has wandered off to. Please note that we may be recruiting a member or two of our wedding party to take phonecalls for us, so don’t be surprised if a strange voice picks up. :)
Saturday, August 8th
Ages 5+ only please for Saturday events. If you'd like help arranging child care please let us know ASAP.
2:30pm — Board the “Love Bus” to Richmond
Meet in the lobby at the Marriott if you want to ride the bus to the wedding. Capacity is somewhat limited, so let us know ASAP if you want a seat. And please be on time because the bus will depart at 2:45pm sharp.
3:30pm — Wedding Ceremony
Our ceremony at the Round Church will begin at 3:30pm. You won’t want to miss this!
5:00pm — Bus back to Burlington
5:30ish — Cocktails on the Dock
Grab a drink at the bar and relax on the deck at Breakwaters Cafe and Grill while waiting to board the boat for our reception. You’ll be just steps away from the boat, so don’t forget to hop aboard at 6:15!
6:15pm — Reception Dinner Cruise
Board the Northern Lights boat for an evening of dinner and dancing and maybe just a little bit of raucous celebration! ;) If you’re running late please call us and we’ll hold the boat if we can. Please note, we have the option to make one extra stop back to the dock during the cruise if anyone needs to depart early, but we'll need to arrange the stop ahead of time. If you'd like to make use of this option please let us know so we can make the necessary arrangements.
10:30ish — After-Party
For those wanting to continue the festivities after the boat docks, please join us for a stumble up the street to the exclusive “hospitality suite” (dedicated private party space) on the top floor of the Marriott, complete with an amazing party deck overlooking Lake Champlain. If we rock out until sunrise we’ll be rewarded with a view to die for! :)
